Car Air Con Regas

A car air con regas (also called a recharge or re-gas) replaces refrigerant that has escaped from the system. Refrigerant doesn’t get used up like fuel. If the level is low, it has leaked out through a seal, hose or fitting, and topping it up without finding the leak means you’ll be back in a few weeks with warm air again.

That’s why we leak test first. If the system is sound, we recover the old refrigerant using a sealed, environmentally friendly process, then recharge it to the correct level for your car. If we find a leak, we’ll show you what we found and give you a fixed price to fix it before any work goes ahead.

What’s Included in a Car Air Con Service

  • Leak detection test
  • Sealed, environmentally friendly refrigerant recovery
  • Full air con performance check, including vent temperature
  • Inspection of the system components
  • Refrigerant recharge (regas) where it’s needed

The aim is to get your air con working properly again, not just top it up. Most services are finished the same day, and you can have it done at the same time as your standard service or logbook service. Just mention it when you book.

Car Air Con Not Blowing Cold?

These are the most common signs your car’s air con needs a check:

  • Air from the vents isn’t as cold as it used to be, or takes a long time to cool down
  • Warm or hot air blowing when the air con is on
  • Weak airflow from the vents
  • A musty or unpleasant smell when you turn it on
  • Unusual noises when the air con is running
  • Windows slow to demist

Small problems like a slow refrigerant leak get worse and cost more the longer they’re left. If you’ve noticed any of these, book a check before the heat really sets in.

How Often Should You Service Your Car Air Con?

Every two years is a good rule, ideally before summer. Refrigerant escapes slowly over time, so cooling fades gradually and many drivers don’t notice until it stops working on a hot day. A regular check catches it early.

Why It Matters on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast

Long, humid summers and stop-start traffic work a car’s air con hard, and a system that’s already weak is the one most likely to fail in the middle of a heatwave. Getting it checked in spring means you’re not stuck waiting for a booking when everyone else’s air con gives up too.

Fixed Price, No Surprises

Every air con service is fixed price. We confirm the price with you before we start, and that’s the price on your invoice. If the leak test finds a fault that needs repairing, we’ll explain it and quote a fixed price first, so you decide what happens next.

We service air con on every make and model, including electric and hybrid cars such as Tesla and BYD. EVs and hybrids need regular air con care too, and on many of them the same system also helps keep the battery cool.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a car air con regas or service cost?

Every air con service and regas is fixed price. We confirm the price with you before we start, so there are no surprises on the bill.

What’s included in a car air con service?

A leak test, refrigerant recovery, a full performance check, an inspection of the system components, and a regas where it’s needed.

Why is my car air con not blowing cold?

The most common cause is low refrigerant from a slow leak. It can also be a faulty component or an electrical problem. A leak test and performance check will find the cause, and we’ll give you a fixed price for any repair before starting.

Do I need a regas or a full service?

You don’t need to work it out. Book an air con service and we’ll leak test the system first. If it only needs a regas, that’s what we do.

How often should I get my car air con serviced?

Every two years is the general rule, or sooner if the air isn’t as cold as it was, smells musty or makes a noise.

How long does a car air con service take?

Most cars are done the same day.

Can I get my air con done at the same time as a car service?

Yes. Many customers have it done with a standard or logbook service. Just mention it when you book.

Do electric and hybrid cars need air con servicing?

Yes. We service air con on electric and hybrid cars, including Tesla and BYD, as well as petrol and diesel vehicles.

Where can I get my car air con serviced?
